With the developing technology, wireless communication is gaining more importance day by day. Wired systems have become less preferred due to reasons such as high cable costs and difficulty in assembly.

The need for Wireless Communication is increasing rapidly in parallel with the increasing mobility and communication needs in environments where there is no infrastructure. Wireless communication can be classified in several different ways. The status of the devices, whether the frequency band used is licensed or unlicensed, bandwidth and distance are some of them. The classification to be made taking into account the condition of the devices is as follows:

PLC, SCADA, HMI Panel, Industrial I/O and sensors are used in automation systems. Communication protocols between these units are the most used protocols such as Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP/IP, PROFINET, DeviceNet. The high cable costs, maintenance and assembly costs that will arise for the transmission of data transferred with these protocols are very high. This cost difference gets bigger as the distance between units increases to kilometers. In case of any malfunction, it is more difficult to intervene in wired systems than in wireless automation systems.
